Matrix really zipped along, a great ride, fascinating effects, even though most
weren't particularly innovative. I didn't let the explanation of the 2 worlds
distract me, and I rather enjoyed the parade of zen sayings throughout. Keanu's
transformation felt right to me, didn't drag and didn't just happen out of the
blue, like "Oh I've got the power now."

I like Hong Kong movies, and the martial arts in Matrix doesn't measure up to
the better HK movies. However, the martial arts was a giant step forward for an
American movie, not bad considering who was doing the fighting, hollywood
"stars" who don't do martial arts.

Just a note about the Star Wars trailer. This is the first I've seen. It
received modest applause. In some ways, what they showed in the trailer seemed
new, fresh (advanced effects). But what I saw also seemed dated in some ways,
fighting with the wands (or whatever they're called), the familiar design of
the fighter ships, the appearance of the heros. I wonder how much of the movie
is going to seem stale?

Are you kidding? Stale? The familiarity of the trailer is the best part.
You can have that stupid jar jar with his "youssa gonna thinka theya gonna
dieeaaa" crap.

Ever heard of "light sabre"?

Can't agree with you more. My adrenaline really started to pump when I
heard the strangley comforting sounds of the lightsabres, fighter
fly-bys, and the laser fire (which has got to be one of the best sound
effects ever dedicated to film).

But doesn't it all take place before the other three? If that's the case, then
they should be using the same machines or weakened variations thereof. I think the
robot scene (where they are marching in formation) is really crappy cgi. It's
almost as bad as Will Smith fighting that pregnant squid (MiB).

Of all the CGI shots to pick on, you choose that one? I'm sorry, but there are many
other shots I would find to dissect before that. Besides, I'll bet that even the worst
CG shot in THE PHANTOM MENACE is better than most of the CG work out there.

Are you saying that there are worse CGI shots in the trailer?

Ah... so you are.

But it's THE movie of the SUMMER. If IT can't do better, then what hope is there?

I would pick on the animation of both Jar Jar and Boss Nass. And I find the shot of the
marching battle droids completely incomparable to the "squid" in MIB. The latter looked
like a cartoon. I can believe the droids.

I'm not a fan of SW, so are you talking about the animal men? They looked like one of the
creatures standing in line in MiB. Not well done (cgi) and kinda silly. It looks like it was
used for comic relief.

I can't and couldn't believe in either. I know it's all fake, but, imo, it's not supposed to
'look' fake. The formation scene looked fake. They had no depth.
