I'll be on two panels Saturday, and have reasonably-big stuff to announce at
both of 'em.
At noon, there's a DC slide show about upcoming books and developments, and
we'll be annmouncing a lot more about the POWER COMPANY, the new book Tom
Grummett and I are doing for DC, and the pretty-darn-cool "DCU event" that
launches the series.
And at 5PM, there'll be a Busiek Q&A session, at which I'll be announcing some
major, sweeping news about DEFENDERS and what happens after #12. This'll be
pretty darn cool too, in its own particular way, so if you're there, don't miss
it!

Any 'Astro City' news? :)

So then, is Defenders going to get past issue 12, or are you going to make
us "wait and see?" ;-)
Since nobody official has ever said anything about DEFENDERS ending with #12, I
don't see why you'd have to be told.
I heard T-BOLTS would end at #8. And #12. And #24. And that it'd never make
to to #50.
So it goes...

After I come back from Toronto, I start treatment for mercury poisoning.
Hopefully, that'll make it more possible to write ASTRO CITY on a more
dependable basis...

Ouch that's a nasty one. How long did it take to get that diagnosed?

About 15 years.

Double ouch. Any idea how you contracted it, after all this time? And I hope
it's something they can treat easily and effectively.

Best guess -- bad dental fillings.

Me too.

Jeez. Kurt, you have my best wishes for a complete and speedy recovery.

From what I know of that condition I'm amazed you could work at all.
Good luck with detox

Just reacting to market facts -- i.e., low sales. Don't get me wrong, _I_
love the book, but many others don't. Add to that the talk around this
group when the book debuted that you got a full 12-issue commitment from
Marvel, and I can see that number approaching fast. I'm extremely
gratified to have NOT heard any cancellation rumors.
Two panels? They should give you at least a whole page!
Are they splash panels?
Ditto. So is this Mercury poisoning the true identity of the sinus problems, or
are they two different things?
Mercury poisoning. Sheesh. That'll teach you to stay out of the inner solar
system.
Ok gang all together now...YESSS!!!!!
Best of luck with your treatments Mr. Busiek, and get well soon.

Yeah, get "The Silver Agent" out of your system :-)
(All these years and we never guessed - just like Immortus and Tony Stark.)
Conspiracy theory:
Mr. Busiek and Mr. Larson have placed in a secret location in
Marvel Comics' new building "The Last Defenders Story". They have
let it be known that certain very important comicbook characters
are killed in this story - identities unrevealed - and they've
manoeuvred into position for a story arc in which this story can
and will be published as the final issue if DEFENDERS is cancelled.
Doing Odin and the Surfer was an attempt at a pre-emptive strike
by management. Didn't stop 'em.
Oh my Thunder God, if Busiek's demands aren't met he's going to
kill Stan Lee!
(And I just hope nothing happens in the next couple of weeks to make
this joke more tasteless than it was intended to be...)
