Anybody know of a cleaner, higher-quality copy?

Too awesome! Especially getting the original seiyuus back.
Of course, can anyone catch the in joke with male-type Ranma arguing
with Inuyasha? (Hint: Check who the seiyuu is for both actors)

Excellent. Thanks for finding the link.

No, but I caught the in-joke of Ranma borrowing Ryuunusuke's trademark
line...

Maybe- unless you already saw this and it isn't what you want. It's on
Yahoo Japan. The poster ( Moriarrow ) who put it on Youtube put up a
link in it's Youtube description, to a Yahoo Japan page. And everything
there is in Japanese, of course, and not reading that puts me in
guessing mode. Anyway, it's this:
pre-view tiny url
http://preview.tinyurl.com/5t4hs7
streaming.yahoo.co.jp/c/t/00293/v05093/v0509300000000483549/
There's a still from the short about half-way down this page. It has
Ataru close in between Kagome and female Ranma, with his hands on them.
To the still's right and down a bit, there's a video playback symbol,
and under it is a yellow link with a green plus sign. That takes a
person to a Yahoo Japan sign in page. And that's all the farther I got.
Maybe a Yahoo USA account could be used to get to it. I don't have
one, so I don't know.
Anyway, Moriarrow said that the link would lead to a download page, in a
reply to someone asking for another source. This was in the Youtube
comments section. So I put up another reply in the comments, and asked
Moriarrow if it is available anywhere else. I guess it's a case of tune
back in later...

I find the lack of Ukyou... disturbing.
Well, funny you should mention that. Because unless my memory fails me, the
half-hour new Ranma OAV they animated is the one where Happousai puts Akane
to sleep with magic incense that gives her oddly erotic dreams about how
Ranma is a prince saving her from Bondage Queen Kodachi and her henchwench,
Metal-Bustier-Clad-Ukyou (and Evil Witch Shampoo).

Blade
(Shockingly, I don't have a convienent scan to link to. And no, I won't link
to you-know-who. Anyway, it's in volume 34, Viz volume 32.)
I'll be looking forward to it. And not just for the
Metal-Bustier-Clad-Ukyou...
Ok, it is just for that.
I find the lack of every other non-essential voice actor, who didn't
want to drop what they were doing to participate in an underpaid
five-minute promotional short....explainable. -_-

Wait, what? *New* OAV?
Moriarrow sent this reply, on Youtube:
"If you use downloader software and URL snooper software, you can
download videos from Yahoo or Youtube. You can get some good
free-software in internet."
Not useful to me, I'm afraid. And probably not to many other people. :(
But at least they were nice enough to reply.

Info update: the poster has added subtitles now ( August 31st ).

Just to be clearer, by 'the poster' I meant the _Youtube_ poster. Sorry
'bout that.

The subtitles explains the joke I caught in the original Japanese: "Hey,
your voice resembles mine." X-D
There is a VERY high-quality MP4 version on Nico Video at:
http://es.nicovideo.jp/watch/1217697257
It's clear enough to be able to discern exactly what the Kongosoha and Moko
Takabisha do to Ataru near the end. (I put in the "es" domain because the
Spanish interface might be easier to navigate than the Japanese one,
especially since Nico Nico Douga requires registration. Otherwise, just
change it to "www".)

If they dubbed it, it'd work with the 2nd male Ranma voice as well...
The one who had a lisp?
One of 'em had a lisp? I can't remember off the top of my head, but I
know Richard Ian Cox took over voicing male Ranma for Sarah Strange
after she went off to be Helen on Da Vinci's Inquest and she's
currently the town barmaid on Men In Trees, and of course Mr. Cox was
the only English VA for Inuyasha (the character, not the series).
Richard Cox would be the one.
Let's just say, Sarah Strange was far more convincing as boy-type Ranma
Not only that, when they transitioned, they acted as if nothing had
happened. They could've tossed in one line about Ranma's voice
changing due to puberty, but noooooooo....
That's the thing - in the original Japanese, there wasn't any cast
change. Thus, there was no place to put a line for the dub cast change.
Besides, they didn't draw attention to any of the *other* Ranma 1/2 cast
changes. (Honestly, the number of "Other Darrins" in that dub...)

I seem to remember a scene with no talking and no characters on screen
as they're headed for school or leaving school, can't remember, where
it could've been tossed in real quick.

Shoot, I'd like to see a season/episode breakdown on some of those...
Male-Ranma's change was the most grating to me. I didn't even notice
Nabiki's change (hey, they're sisters anyway), and Dr. Tofu was almost
non-existant in the series when I saw the cast list change on the DVDs
of the TV Series. Shoot, I still need to see the 7th season and the
OAV...
> I seem to remember a scene with no talking and no characters on screen

Yeah, but then...
All the purists would get upset that they added
previously nonexistant dialogue.
All the logicians would get upset that they implied
Ranma hit puberty AT SIXTEEN.
The ametuer writers-who-have-never-written-anything
would criticize the line because it has nothing to do
with the plot.
The rest of America would be so dense that they
wouldn't connect the mention of puberty with Ranma's
new voice.
The sub fans wouldn't care cuz they're watching the sub.
And only the dub fans would care.
So, why bother?
And other Nabikis and other Colognes, and other Yotsuyas...well, that
one was explainable. ;)

Like I said, "Other Darrins". It's a trope.
