Sam Hilbourne Tires

Since the Riv geometry chart is uncharacteristically vague on this
point, can anyone tell me the max tire width, with fenders, for this
frame?

This chart shows it as 44 max, 38-40 w/ fenders.

I have 700x40 Schwalbe Smart Sams on mine with no fenders ( live in
SoCal) and there is plenty of room. I bet you could run a 700x 50
roadish tire with no issues (and no fenders).

I just realized I have Sams on my Sam! talk about karma! and my
initials backwards are Sam... whew!

Am running Schwalbe Marathon Supremes 700x40 with fenders on my Sam.
Tires measure 39 actual on Salsa Delgado rims.

Been running those tires since I got the bike. A beautiful match, in
my opinion.

Has anyone run 44s on their Sam? I am running 42mm IRC Mythos XC
Slicks (which are knobbies with a semi-slick center). They measure
42mm actual on Velocity Synergies, and I'd say there is good mud
clearance, but with 44s I am not so sure (though I am pretty sure 44s
would fit).
