We have confirmed the venue for Railscamp 6!

Last week John (Barton) and myself went down to checkout
"Lord Somers Camp" down on the Mornington peninsula.

It is indeed the largest Railscamp venue yet.
There is a beach about 100 meters to the rear of the property,
it has views accross to Phillip Island.

Some details:

Meals:

8 meals are provided. That includes the Friday afternoon / dinner
BBQ!
(Earlier dinner I'd say right now)

Morning and Afternoon Tea
24/7 Fruit available
Vegans and Vegetarians will be catered for.
When you register let us know of your requirements

Menu: Lasagna, Curries, Roasts, Bacon & Eggs and Salad rolls
(we'll confirm before you get there)
Size: Lord somers are used to catering for "lads".
Cleanup: We'll have someone to wash all the dishes.

Accomodation:

All accomodation is bunk beds. Rooms are split into
2, 4, 6, 8 and then some larger dorm rooms. (Get there earlier for a
better spot!)
Linen (a fitted sheet) is provided, one set per head for the weekend
Guests need to bring their own pillow and sleeping bag

Ladies wanting a bit of extra privacy can get a shared ladies room
(if requested)

Tents? Sure!!

Getting there:
Drive (A really nice, easy drive from Melbourne - about 1.5hrs)
Catch a metro train to Frankston, shuttled from there (train time +
about 30 mins)
Catch a metro train to Frankston, switch to a diesel train to
Balnarring, then 10 minute shuttle

More details on travel as they are available

When is it?
The second last weekend of November. (Thats the 20th until the 23rd)
The weather should be warm(er) by then.
It clashes with Rubyconf. Don't worry, it is a kick ass weekend.

Pricing:
The indicitive pricing is $180, this includes accomodation and
meals.

Registration:
Not yet. We'll let you know.

Other cool stuff about the venue:
Venue web site (don't get put off!) http://www.lordsomerscamp.org.au
The site map (http://www.lordsomerscamp.org.au/facilities/images/
smap.gif) + Johns pics might help you peice it together
John was a legend and brought a camera (I forgot!) -
http://www.flickr.com/photos/johotravels/sets/72157620197810073/
There is a basketball / vollyball / soccer area (Balls provided!)
Table Tennis table
The camp sleeps up to 250
No alcohol is allowed in the sleeping huts, and there's no smoking
indoors full stop
There are plenty of bins (both rubbish and recycling) to handle all
our binning needs. (Don't act like piggies!)

game enough?

Actually, it's not when you pay, but when you incur the liability,
I believe. We've noted your commitment to coming, so the
liability has been incurred ;-).

I'm landing from KL at 1am on the Saturday morning, so I guess
I'll be arriving sometime early Sat AM, tired already.

We're cash-based accounting. For us its when we pay. But yes, for accruals accounting its when you get the invoice etc :)

Hella cool. I'll bring my hifi gear so we can get some decent tunes
cranking. The whole music setup kinda sucked last time (1 powered
speaker with a short cable and a very flakey duke).

I've also got a mic, leads, and a mixer. I'm not sure if anyone has
made arrangements for that side of things yet.

Cheers,

Josh

Sounds good, josh. Dukejour will (read: might) be ready in 142 sleeps' time for the music, but a decent mic/mixer/speakers setup is necessary. Does anyone have a madonna/tony robbins style wireless microphone? ;)
