2+2 Hood

Hi

Looking to get advice as to folding down convertible hood as can't find any info in the build manual for this. When I fold mine down on the 2+2 the part that has the front lock fastenings just flaps around. How is this kept in place when hood is down?

Hi Mike,

There are normally 2 rubber loops (giant O rings) that go  down behind the back seat.

When the hood is down you hook the end of the catch into the loops and it holds the front of the hood down.

Theoretically anyway, i never got that to work on mine (and the hood escaping at 70mph is a bit scary) so i got a hood cover for mine.

 

But, i know most owners just use the rubber loops.

On the rear bulkhead/seat back there should be two rubber bands that you hook onto the front hood catches

What Geoff and I do with ours is as follows.

Lay header rail onto back shelf ensuring it's tucked in as far back as possible.It's a bit fiddly at first.

Then fold the rest of the hood on top. Never needed rubber straps and hood never moves even at motorway speeds.

Thanks Jim - I wondered what they were for. Will see if that works. The reason for asking about holding down the hood now was that when you get the odd dry and sunny day during these early months of the year it would be nice to get the hood down and go for a quick spin without the hood flapping about in the wind

As to the hood cover one of those was in the boot when I bought it. Have experience with these as I had one on the Scimitar SST which I sold prior to buying the 2+2. They are very good and greatly improve the looks of the car and will definitely fit it on once we get a period of dry and warm weather.
