to Oxford Geek Nights
Hi all,

First off: seasons greetings to everyone on the OGN mailing list. In
keeping with the spirit of Christmas, we've been pausing from our
eggnog and warm negus for only long enough to set the wheels in motion
for Oxford Geek Night #5 next year. Here are the essential details:

The time: Wednesday February 6, 2008 (doors open 7.30pm)
The place: Jericho Tavern, Walton Street

We also have two really interesting keynote speakers booked: Rufus
Pollock and Denise Wilton.

Rufus is an executive director of the Open Knowledge Foundation and an
economics researcher at Emmanuel College, Cambridge. He'll be talking
about promoting the opening of knowledge silos and removing technical
and legal restrictions to knowledge for all.

Denise, on the other hand, is a design buff and creative director at
Moo: she's also worked on the Nathan Barley website and was one of the
founding members of b3ta. She'll tell us all how to design a web
application with character!

We've got plenty of microslots free still, so if you'd like to do a
five-minute talk to the audience then feel free to submit your details
at:

http://natbat.wufoo.com/forms/oxford-geek-night-microslot-proposal/

It's a friendly atmosphere and (I think I speak for us all when I say)
we're all interested to hear what random musings and adventures other
geeks have had in the course of their work, rest or play.

We'll be posting occasional updates on our Upcoming event at

http://upcoming.yahoo.com/event/382722/

as and when we've got more news.

Until February, then: have a grand holiday and best wishes for the new
year!

Cheers,
J-P
