Dear Developers,

We will enable migration of apps (with users) to a new URL on Tuesday (June 23, 09). Please read the instructions below carefully for the migration process.

Requirements
1. You must have claimed ownership of the existing app.
To claim ownership of an app, visit http://www.google.com/gadgets/directory/verify

2. You be logged in with the account with which you claimed ownership.

3. The existing app must be a featured app on Orkut.

4. The new application URL must NOT have been used as an app on ANY google container -- including orkut, igoogle, etc.
Note: This is very important, otherwise the migrate request will fail.
It is recommended that you create an absolutely new and unique URL when migrating.
Unfortunately, this also means that you cannot test the new app URL on sandbox before issuing a migrate request.

Steps
1. Visit http://sandbox.orkut.com/AppUrlMigrate.aspx
2. Type in your existing app url and the new URL to migrate to.
3. Check the exisiting and new app URLs. (see attached screen shot)
4. Double check - (you really don't want a typo in the new URL).
5. Hit the submit button.
6. A migration confirmation message will appear.
7. The migration changes will propagate through caches and will be live in 24 hours.

Caution: If you use the same existing app URL on any other google property, this migration request will have an effect on the other property.

Thanks,
Shishir
(Orkut Team)

Dear Developers,

The migration page is live now. Please do not bring down your older
site until all caches are updated.

Cheers,
Shishir

Hi Googlers!

I changed successfuly the url of app "Eu Quero!" but now the app
disappeared from the users profile and users nav menu.
When I try to access the app I´m redirected to the app config page
(similar to the app add page).
When I click in "view application" button I´m redirected back to the
same page (app config page).

App url: http://www.orkut.com.br/Main#AppInfo.aspx?appId=499286892711

It´s a expected bejavior? If yes there are some estimated time to
migrate completely the app url?

Why can't I migrate my App URL if my app isn't an Orkut featured app?
I was trying to change the URL of my Orkut app, "Twitkut"

There should really be no restriction on whether the app is featured
or not.

hum.. i'm having a problem when i try to transfer my app..
i already verifyed it and after the attempt i get only: "Ocorreu um
erro interno durante o processamento de sua solicitação. Tente
novamente mais tarde. "
which means something like: "An internal error ocurred while
processing your solicitation. Try again later."

actual xml file: http://www.autosistem.inf.br/LastFM.xml
new xml file: http://lastfm.tenisbeltrao.com.br/LastFM.xml

ok, now i got a new message:
"Falha na migração. O url do app existente não representa um app em
destaque. "
"Migration failure. The existing url of the app doesn't represent a
featured app."

i really need to migrate it.. since my actual server will block the
access to my app..

I am missing something. If your app is not featured, it probably doesn't have real users. If so, then why migrate the url?
just move your code to a new server/url and use it.

Mine has 2000+ users. But when I try to migrate it does say, "Your app is not featured"

You could probably add a review process to migration of apps. For example, when someone requests the migration of the URL of an app, you could review that URL and then when you approve it, the actual migration takes place. Till then, the older URL remains in use.

Hi,

We are working on a fix to the URL migration process and the whole app submission process in general. We currently do not have any way to migrate URL's but we expect that to be working in a few weeks.

Thank you for your patience!
