To all those developers who have already submitted an application --
thank you very much! Your great work is helping the platform flourish,
and we appreciate the hours of hard work that you're contributing
towards these applications.

Before being added to the directory, each application is reviewed.
Unfortunately, this means that your application may not be available
in the directory immediately, sometimes up to several weeks depending
on the number of apps awaiting review. We're working to make these
review times much, much lower so your apps can be made available to
other uses faster.

Until we get to that point, I encourage all developers to submit an
email to opensocial-...@google.com for your application's
status. You should receive an email within 24 to 48 hours with the
reviewer's progress and your application may appear in the directory
sooner as a result.

BEFORE DOING THIS, please take a moment and read through the orkut
developer guidelines, linked below.

http://code.google.com/apis/orkut/docs/orkutdevguidelines.html

If your application follows these guidelines (e.g. no ads in the
profile view, no directing users to install the app before using it or
linking directly to the application info. page, etc.) AND if the
application makes some use of the OpenSocial API, your review should
be painless. Note that we are not approving non-social applications at
this time so make sure your applications have some social capabilities
(e.g. showing your friends' high scores in a game, allowing the user
to bookmark or "favorite" certain content and display it to friends,
etc.).

Cheers!
- Jason

Great news Jason!

I've been working a lot with my application. In fact, to do what I
want I had to make some changes like using makeRequest function to
save and fetch app data and also I'm following your adivices . So I
will send you as soon as possible, ok?

Thanks for your help,

André Diniz.

Hi Puneet. I don't quite understand what you're asking. If you're
asking about submitting a "Hello, World" application to the directory,
please don't -- we're not adding any tutorial applications like this,
even if you promise to make it better after it's reviewed.

If you have signed up for orkut sandbox access, you can install your
tutorial application in your own profile for testing, but please don't
submit it to the directory until you add some original content. If you
don't have sandbox access, please follow the instructions on this
page:

I have made corrections a/c to the email I received. I informed the
Orkut team but noone has looked at it yet

The corrections were very small, so you dont have to do a lot of work
on them

App Name is: YouTube Plus.

Hi Jason,

I have access to orkut.sandbox.com but my sample app does not show up
in my personal profile after uploaded successfully. I am wondering if
uploaded app still needs to go through the approval process and the
ones uploaded to the orkut directory.
Thanks,
\KT

Hi KT,

The apps on orkut sandbox do not go through an approval process. I assume you have installed the app using the xml url. It asks your permission for publishing updates and show on profile (right hand side). may be while installing you had them unchecked.

Ujj

Hello Jason,

I tried sending an email to the email address you mentioned but never
got any reply from them. It already 4 days now. Should I still wait
for an answer? Also why don't you send an email as soon as application
is submitted and send regular emails in between which would atleast
help us the situation.

The url submitted by us is:
http://chess.xtremeheights.com/chess2league.xml

Waiting for your answer.

Regards,

Nemesh

Orkut has to provide atleast some kind of mechanism where the
developers can view the status. Something like UPS tracking status :-)
Developers work really hard to get the application in final shape. It
would be nice if Orkut keeps them in the loop after the submission.

Hello,

I submitted my orkut application two days ago. I have minified the JS, and CSS using the YUI-compressor.
Will that delay/prolong the approval process?

Thanks,

My app "Enquete Fácil" was published a week ago!

If you want to use it, you must change your Orkut Language to
Portuguese before to find it at the Orkut Directory, after that you
can add it and finally get back your own language settings.

"Enquete Fácil" in Portuguese means Easy Poll in English.

Thank you all.
