It is with great sadness that we report the death of John Bruno Hare of
terminal cancer on Apr 27, 2010. He was founder of the Internet Sacred
Text Archive <http://www.sacred-texts.com>, a legacy that demonstrates
his dedication to universal religious tolerance, the availability of
knowledge, and the public domain. He was transcribing religious texts
and finding inspiration from them nearly to the end of his life
<http://twitter.com/sacredtexts>. An article about his work appeared in
the Santa Cruz Sentinel last year
<http://www.santacruzsentinel.com/localnews/ci_13035056>.
For a little under a year, Open Siddur has been collaborating with him
(and the other volunteers he coordinated) on the transcription of the
1917 JPS translation of the Tanach. Aharon's reflections are recorded in
a blog post <http://opensiddur.net/2010/04/thankful-for-john-b-hare/>.
