UK Doctors Report Widespread Resistance To Swine Flu Vaccine - Despite Bribes

Exclusive: GPs fear they are almost certain to fall short of the Government’s target for swine flu vaccination, with practices across the country reporting widespread resistance from patients to taking up the vaccine. A Pulse snapshot survey of just over 100 GPs finds the lukewarm response from patients makes it unlikely the 50.7% target. Only 37% of GPs believe the Government’s 50.7% target will be achievable, based on their experience so far of supplies and the reaction of patients. Some GPs warned patients were concerned over thiosermal in the vaccine and the risk of side-effects – which practice staff report as headaches, sleeplessness and stomach cramps.

As Canadian health officials assured the public that the pandemic H1N1 vaccine is as safe as the seasonal flu shot, at least one province is reporting almost double the rate of severe allergic reactions. British Columbia Centre for Disease Control said it is probing why residents suffered anaphylaxis at a higher rate compared with the previous five seasonal-flu-vaccination programs, suggesting it could be because some people received H1N1 and the seasonal flu shot simultaneously.

Pregnant Women UK Say No To Swine Flu Vaccine

The public is turning its back on swine flu vaccine, a snapshot survey of family doctors suggests. Resistance to the jab was particularly high among pregnant women. Some people said they were concerned about possible side effects of the jab, while others believed there was no need to have it because the virus is mild in most of those affected. Cases of swine flu have risen more slowly than expected since September and have levelled off.

New Poll From DBJ - Adults Refuse Swine Flu Vaccine

A new poll reports nearly half of adults at risk are not interested. The top reasons adults have found to skip the vaccine include concern about the safety of the vaccine and a general sense that they simply do not need the vaccine. Of those surveyed, 38 percent are worried about the vaccine’s safety, and 32 percent feel they don’t need it. Republicans are most likely to skip the vaccine (74 percent), as are independents (68 percent). Fewer than half of democrats (45 percent) plan to skip the vaccine.
