I used a Linux VPS at Net24 from October 2007 to February 2009 and it
was a good system, although they tended to reboot them too often for
my liking to perform scheduled weekly maintenance. I still manage
another one for a customer at Net24 and the main reason we chose it
was because the international bandwidth included was really good
value.
In February I moved a dedicated server at Sitehost because I needed a
lot more disk space and disk is so expensive on VPS servers in NZ.
I moved my blog to a US based VPS (at
vps.net) in August because I was
chewing through so much international bandwidth so it saved me money
to offshore it. If you don't specifically need to host within NZ I
highly recommend
vps.net. They're good value and you can add extra
nodes as you need them (each node is a block of 0.4GHZ of dedicated
CPU, 256MB of RAM, 10GB storage and 250GB bandwidth.
When you start looking at the cost of VPS servers in the USA you
realise how expensive they are here...
