1010global.org has decided to commission a video where children and
others who aren't particularly interested in cutting carbon emissions
are blown up with lots of blood and gore. Hot Topic are deluded enough
to be promoting this sick video on their website here:
http://hot-topic.co.nz/no-pressure-1010-on-the-button

Why don't you all go there and say what you think?
I think the video very likely breaks NZ laws.
The people who support this video should be ashamed of themselves.

More here at WUWT:

I see on the 1010 site that Sony have foolishly decided to support
1010. What other companies should I boycott?

Naomi Climer, chair of Sony’s sustainability leadership group on their
plans for 10 October:
"I’m really excited about Sony partnering with 10.10 and the global
Day of Doing because I know how engaging 10:10 is for staff and the
public alike."

I see that Gareth from Hot Topic has decided to turn off the "dislike"
button because of all the visitors:

See update to the post. I turned off the “dislike” button because of
the influx from Watts.
----------------------------------------------------
That's enough from the ridiculous Hot Topic website.

The offensive video has been removed from the 1010 website.
Maybe Sony put some pressure on them!
Note to sponsors: - boycotts do work. Be careful who you get in bed
with.

However, it's too late. 1010 and the other organisations trying to get
people to cut their CO2 emissions are proven to be eco terrorists and
out of touch with reality. They will do anything to promote their
crazy misguided belief that CO2 - the fount of all life - is
dangerous. Please resist the demands of these dangerous people and
root them out of your businesses and organisations.

Here is the apology from 1010, and a few of the many comments from
their website. Because they are dishonest, we know that they will try
to hide this embarrassing episode. So it's here on Usenet, forever.

Sorry

We missed the mark with today's 'No Pressure' video, and have removed
it from our website

Today we put up a mini-movie about 10:10 and climate change called 'No
Pressure’.

With climate change becoming increasingly threatening, and
decreasingly talked about in the media, we wanted to find a way to
bring this critical issue back into the headlines whilst making people
laugh. We were therefore delighted when Britain's leading comedy
writer, Richard Curtis - writer of Blackadder, Four Weddings, Notting
Hill and many others – agreed to write a short film for the 10:10
campaign. Many people found the resulting film extremely funny, but
unfortunately some didn't and we sincerely apologise to anybody we
have offended.

As a result of these concerns we've taken it off our website. We won't
be making any attempt to censor or remove other versions currently in
circulation on the internet.

We'd like to thank the 50+ film professionals and 40+ actors and
extras and who gave their time and equipment to the film for free. We
greatly value your contributions and the tremendous enthusiasm and
professionalism you brought to the project.

At 10:10 we're all about trying new and creative ways of getting
people to take action on climate change. Unfortunately in this
instance we missed the mark. Oh well, we live and learn.

Onwards and upwards,

Franny, Lizzie, Eugenie and the whole 10:10 team

"Many people found the resulting film extremely funny" says volumes
about your organization and the type of people you attract.

This 'apology' is pathetic! 'Oops' (on twitter) is not an appropriate
response to this disastrous episode. The entire thing is just so
incredibly immature, reactionary and irresponsible it is hard to
fathom that anyone trusts your board to run an project like 10:10. If
there is any integrity in your organization at all there will be
serious consequences. This would never happen in an environmental
organization which nurtured a less tyrannical attitude. Yup, you
certainly evoked shock / horror. Sad.

Wow, you sick douches. http://thejimmyzshow.com/

Boycott Sony if that company is contributing to this sick bunch of
socialist freaks.

Matt Loehrer 4:05 pm
This is your introduction to a lot of people who had never heard of
you before this. Way to go, geniuses.

I am not a sceptic, quite the opposite. I have worked in climate
mitigation for years. (In the UK).

I am really appalled by this to a degree that is only just fully
sinking in several hours after watching. At first I was just in shock,
then angry. Now I feel deeply depressed. Not just because of the
terrible blow that it has dealt the climate movement, but because its
very content is so horrific it makes me feel utterly wretched. Sorry,
but it isn't even remotely funny.

Thank you for apologising and pulling the film. I personally don't
think that this is nearly enough. I am not sure what more you should
do, but whatever else you can think of doing to atone for this, you
need to do it, and fast. I suggest you get professional help from
those with experience in PR damage limitation. After all, you have
demonstrated that you don't have a sodding clue yourselves.

And every sane organisaiton needs to put as much distance between
themselves and you as possible. All those signed up should pull out
and publicly denounce you right away. Sorry guys, but you have really,
really messed up this time.

"Many people found the resulting film extremely funny, but
unfortunately some didn't..."

What on earth were you thinking? Have you read the 400+ comments that
have appeared after the Guardian posted their "There will be blood"
article? Most of them are from people on both sides of the debate who
think that this film is repulsive and has been a disastrous own goal
on your part; moreover, a large number of those outraged by the film
are 10:10 supporters!

There is a very small number of people who had positive things to say
about it, but the general consensus is that making and showing this
atrocity has demonstrated a lack of sensitivity, judgement and common
sense that beggars belief.

My question is: are you actually going to release this to be viewed in
the cinema and on television now, given the overwhelmingly negative
response it has received?

It's done its job. If you Google for the keywords in the heading, this
thread is on the first page of the results.
Sony have withdrawn their support for 10:10.
Hot Topic and 10:10 will forever be associated with a snuff video made
for eco terrorists. Even most warmists are outraged by that video. An
excellent result thank you!
