Because the 2003 stats are important for the Riddler's competition, I
took extra care to generate them this year. In fact, to make the stats
more accurate, I nuked my whole message database and downloaded the
whole NCC again. That means that the stats does not consider messages
that have been cancelled. This is also an explanation why the maximum
number of messages for a single day has dropped from 1007 to 1006.
Over 1000 messages have been cancelled in NCC this year. In fact, the
index shows that initially, 114515 messages were posted, but only
113484.
This does *not* means that NCCI have been behaving that badly this
year. The high number of messages cancelled is due to the fact that at
some time in the year, an NCCI asked to get all his forum messages
cancelled as for prefessional reasons, he didn't want his name to be
seen in the forums.
Well, enough of talk. Attached to this message, you will find the stats.

Was it me?

Also Chad had a... mishap during which a few hundred messages were posted
and then deleted, IIRC...

Actually, there was more than one person for whom a number of messages
got deleted. I don't remember what was the reason each time. I assumed
it was for professional reasons, but maybe it was for other reasons
though. There is one person standing out of the crowd in terms of
number of messages cancelled though.
Given I don't know for what reason the messages were cancelled, I
prefer not to name the person.

Well, that's just because you only used the name "Ben" with your
primary email address (the email address you are using now without the
"NO").

Unfortunately, I have no stats from before december 2000, or else I could
see how some famous threads like the one about the cat stuck in the tree
would compare.

No. It was the famous discussion that causes Lynnette to delurk.
I just found it back on Google. It was not that long. It has just remained
famous, and Lynnette even pulled a Pence on it some day a few years later.
