Below are some of the birds observed by the three groups birding St
Shotts to Portugal Cove South ( KK, JW, DB), (AH, TB AB) & (BM et
al.).
NORTHERN LAPWING - 1 with very long crest at Biscay Bay, none at
Portugal Cove South for last three days.
Killdeer - 1 Powles Head light house, 2 Ken's Kabbages, St Shotts
(nothing at sod farm)
Sanderling - 10 (!) feeding at low tide at Biscay Bay
Red-throated Loon - 1 Biscay Bay
American Kestrel - 1 Trepassey, 1 Powles Head, 1 St. Shotts
Lapland Longspur - 1 fly over at Biscay Bay.
Ring-necked Duck - 2 males in pond near the Loran 'C' tower.
Black-bellied Plover - 1 the usual at Renews
There may be other birds to add after we split up for good at noon.
The weather was near gale force blowing dizzle but warm. Don't feel
like much Christmas. Saw the lapwing pull two large earthworms from
the ground.
BM (for everyone on the UPSA hunt)
PS A bread-eating 1st Ring-billed Gull at Cape Broyle was unusual.

For the AH, TB and AB group I can add:

and close to the beach) seen by KK, JW & DB as well
1 Swamp Sparrow (Biscay Bay)
1 Song Sparrow (Ferryland)
1 C. Grackle (Renews)
1 Killdeer (Cappahayden) - also seen by KK, JW & DB
1 Black-headed Gull (Cape Broyle)
100+ American Goldfinches! (highway just North-East of PCS)
