Hi there,

I experience firefox to use up to 70% of my CPU-time while doing just
nothing, well almoust nothing. I found this problem, when having several
tabs opend with arcticles from a famous german newspaper.
They make havy use of animated gifs, to offer their service free. So now it
seems reasonable that these gifs use up CPU-time while they are being
displayed. But if I backgroud all the tabs containing these gifs, firefox
still consumes a lot of CPU-time.

So, is the animation of gifs suspended when a tab is backgrounded? Is there
a way making firefox to suspend their ainmation?

Max

There is a setting to make all gifs animate only once, or not at all. I
don't remember exactly where it is in FireFox....

Just hit Esc on the page with gifs and all of them will stop.
