Welcome to the SSL developers newsgroup, netscape.dev.ssl

This unmoderated newsgroup is intended to replace the old mailing list for ssl
developers, which was named ssl-...@netscape.com.

netscape.dev.ssl is accessible on Netscape's secure (SSL encrypted) newsgroup
server, secnews.netscape.com on port 563. If you have Netscape Communicator,
you should be able to subscribe by clicking this link:
snews://secnews.netscape.com/netscape.dev.ssl

netscape.dev.ssl is also archived and accessible (or will soon be) on the
www.dejanews.com web site, which you can access with any web browser at this
URL:
http://www.dejanews.com/bg.xp?level=netscape.dev&ST=BG

The charter of this newsgroup is to provide a forum for SSL software developers
(SSL implementors) and secure web site developers to discuss such things as:

- The SSL specifications (see http://home.netscape.com/eng/security/ )

- Interoperability issues among different SSL implementations and products

- Questions about the SSL aspects of secure servers (such as https servers)
and secure clients (such as https browsers) from any/all manufacturers.

This newsgroup is NOT the place to discuss the following items:

- Java and Javascript security.
Those subjects are covered in the newsgroup netscape.dev.security

- General problems (non-SSL bugs) with Netscape products.
Each such product has its own newsgroup for those discussions, e.g.
netscape.communicator
netscape.navigator
netscape.server.certificate
netscape.server.directory
netscape.server.mail
netscape.server.news
netscape.server.proxy
netscape.server.web
(etc.)

All of the newsgroups named above are found on the secnews.netscape.com on port
563. This is a secure (encrypted) news server.

Enjoy!
