My first language was Latin, and how little bang for the buck can you get?

The only real use it has been has been for the roots of so many english words.
I'd have gotten the same value from Spanish, and I meet a lot more Mexicanos,
Nicaraguenses, etc than I do Romans.

Two other known uses for Latin:
* Impressing people who are impressed by that sort of thing.
* A fellow I used to work with boosted his job security by writing a fairly
important piece of software with all the comments in Latin. From what
I later saw of his work in English and ALGOL this may have been a good
idea.

"Meiguo renmin wansui!"
["Routsalaisen politikun poikka!"]
"Y'all come now!"

What is it that makes people flame at Latin? Numquam scit. (Say it!)
