4. Authorization for the execution of MBTA Contract No.
B92PS08, Design Engineering Services for Rehabilitation or Replacement
of System-wide Bridges, Group B, with HNTB Corporation, for an
estimated sum not to exceed $3,221,434.


5. Authorization for the execution of MBTA Contract No.
B92PS09, Design Engineering Services for Rehabilitation or Replacement
of System-wide Bridges, Contract 1 Group C, with Louis Berger Group,
Inc., for an estimated sum not to exceed $3,475,674.


6. Authorization for the execution of Amendment No. 11 to MBTA
Contract No. A21PS01, Station and Accessibility Improvements for
Copley Station, Green Line, with STV Incorporated, for an estimated
sum not to exceed $638,509.


7. Authorization for the execution of Amendment No. 15 to MBTA
Contract No. R19PS01, Design Engineering Services, CNG Modifications
for Cabot, Charlestown and Everett Bus Garages, with Joint Venture:
Parsons Brinckerhoff/Stone & Webster, for an estimated sum not to
exceed $499,735.


8. Authorization for the execution of Amendment No. 11 to MBTA
Contract No. K83PS01, Technical Engineering Oversight of the Old
Colony Railroad, Greenbush Section, with DMJM+Harris for an estimated
sum not to exceed $287,927.


9. Authorization for the execution of Change Order No. 31 to
MBTA Contract No. K83CN01, Transportation Improvements in the
Greenbush Line Corridor (Old Colony Line Railroad Rehabilitation
Project) with Jay Cashman, Inc./Balfour Beatty Construction, Inc., for
a lump sum of $1,380,000.


10. Authorization for the execution of a Contract with Saft
America, Inc., of Cockeysville, Maryland, for the purchase of sixty-
four sets of No. 2 Red Line Car batteries, at a total cost not to
exceed $657,920.


11. Authorization for the execution of a Contract with Northern
Construction Service, LLC, of Weymouth, Massachusetts, to perform
structural and architectural repairs at four MBTA Red Line
substations, at a total cost not to exceed $522,500.


12. Authorization to enter into a Systems Contract with Gexpro
of Wakefield, Massachusetts, to supply electrical items for a three-
year period, with a one-year option, at a total cost not to exceed
$2,000,000.


13. Authorization for the execution of a Contract with A.L.
Prime Energy, Inc., of Wakefield, Massachusetts, for the supply of Low
Sulfur Heating Oil as called for during a one-year period, with an
option for an additional year, at a total cost not to exceed
$2,761,188.


14. Authorization for the execution of the option year for the
maintenance of the Transit Police two-way radio system equipment with
Comtronics of Quincy, Massachusetts for a sum not to exceed $389,600.


15. Authorization for the execution of an Extra Work Project
Initiation Form with the Massachusetts Bay Commuter Railroad Company
(MBCR) to perform State of Good Repair initiatives on Commuter Rail
Coaches and Locomotives, for an amount not to exceed $21,138,319.33.

16. Authorization for the execution of an Extra Work Project
Initiation Form with the Massachusetts Bay Commuter Railroad Company
(MBCR) to perform State of Good Repair initiatives on Commuter Rail
Coaches and Locomotives, for an amount not to exceed $230,962.80.

17. Authorization for the execution of an Extra Work Project
Initiation Agreement with the Massachusetts Bay Commuter Railroad
Company (MBCR), for the removal and replacement of the slope
stabilization and direct fixated track systems at the Lynn Commuter
Rail Station on the Eastern Route Main Line, for an amount not to
exceed $997,400.


18. Authorization for the execution of an Extra Work Project
Initiation Agreement No. CR09-06 with the Massachusetts Bay Commuter
Railroad Company (MBCR), for the rehabilitation of the ramps/platforms
and lighting/electrical systems at the New Hampshire Main – Lowell
Line’s Winchester Center Station, for an amount not to exceed
$1,378,222.


19. Authorization for the execution of an Extra Work Project
Initiation Agreement No. CR09-02 with the Massachusetts Bay Commuter
Railroad Company (MBCR), for the removal and replacement of the
existing platforms and installation of a tactile warning strip at the
Natick Commuter Rail Station on the Worcester Line, for an amount not
to exceed $650,000.


20. Authorization for the execution of an Extra Work Project
Initiation Agreement No. CR09-01 with the Massachusetts Bay Commuter
Railroad Company (MBCR), for the wedge drive hydraulic system
replacement on the Beverly Draw Bridge on the MBTA’s Newburyport/
Rockport Commuter Rail Line, for an amount not to exceed $1,596,278.


21. Authorization to renew the current Excess Liability
Insurance policies with Lexington Insurance Company (part of AIG
Group), Steadfast Insurance Company (part of Zurich Group), and XL
Europe Limited, with limits of $67.5 million excess of a $7.5 million
Self-Insured Retention , through Aon Risk Services, for an annual
period beginning September 19, 2008, for an annual cost of $3,624,376.


22. Authorization to submit a request to the MBTA Advisory Board
for a fiscal year 2009 supplemental budget. The proposed supplemental
budget funds two actions: (1) the implementation of the Local 589
interest arbitration award and the costs associated with the
application of pattern bargaining with the Authority's other unions
and (2) the additional costs of contract extension year one between
the Authority and Massachusetts Bay Commuter Railroad Company.


OTHER BUSINESS:


Authorization for the Recording Secretary to Certify the preceding
Votes immediately following the Meeting.

improvements are they looking for??

Can anyone please explain what item #-17 is?

When Lynn station was modernized they used a subway style concrete
rail bed. This has failed and cracked and is in need of replacement.
The outbound track is better than the inbound. The speed in the
station on the inbound side is 10 mph because of this.
