I thought Thunderbird was able to handle yENC files... Mine doesn't.
Is there an addon or plugin for this?

Thanks!

Thunderbird can decode single-part yENC binaries; but unfortunately it
doesn't combine multi-part binaries. For multi-part binaries, I suggest
using a different newsreader, like Xnews <http://xnews.newsguy.com/>.

It also doesn't handle yEnc encoded binaries whose headers designate
them as part of a series, which renders the ability to decode yEnc
binaries pretty nearly useless. This appears to be a design parameter
applied to TB to prevent users from accessing binary content.
I don't expect it to ever change, so like you said, Xnews is a workable
alternative.
