Any reason why you quoted the entire message AND maintained the crosspost?

See <http://www.rahul.net/falk/glossary.html#crosspost>.

Glance at the Newsgroups header.

This group is not moderated. It's up to you to snip and not to
crosspost.

reg,

This is cross-posted to mozilla.support.firefox and
mozilla.support.general with the follow-up set to mozilla.support.general.

Cross-posting should be used only where appropriate, and using the
"follow-up set to" prevents people from having to read the same thread
over and over.

This is not to confused with multi-posting which is only done by
brain-dead, mouth-breathing, top-posting low-lifes.

Ron ;)

Hey Reg,

I guess they expect everyone to have those headers showing. What they
don't think about is that people customize their headers to see what
they want. I for one don't show that info so I wouldn't know if someone
is cross-posting or posting anywhere else for that matter.

If we catch it going to more than one group in the Compose window that's
great, but I usually just type my reply and quickly press send.

So don't let them brow beat you...

When you reply, the address(s) show up in the To: or Newsgroup(s) field.
If the message is crossposted you'll see more than one address.

I don't know how it is in TB, but in Moz using the ToyFactory Theme, I
can have that "To," "From" and "Subject" section closed. I mean, all
I see is the Menu Bar, the Tool Bar and the section where you write
your message. If I wanted to I could also close the other bars.

Same in TB 1.5.0.2 with Mnenhy 0.7.4.0 installed .. *BUT* that only
applies to the message itself ...when you hit reply, as Jay says, you
see multiple addresses even if you have the view headers set to "none".

I keep mine set at "extended normal view".

View, Headers, Normal. All takes up too much of the reading room.

I have View Headers Normal set as well. And no Mnenhy in this one either
But I still see a TO area when I hit reply
In fact on several occassions I have written a reply and then trashed it

Actually they were combined together. I don't see how you can say only
one part of it was "brow beating". You even used the word "also" when

I just found out the name of what I'm talking about. Its called the
Address Bar. When I have that closed, I don't see anything when I
reply. Sometimes this can by annoying when I'm sending emails. I
have one account where there are two identities, and sometimes I
forget to switch them, all because I don't see the Address Bar.

So, turn the Address bar on <g>
<POOF> no more annoyances when sending mail <g>

Um, just how did you turn the Address Bar OFF in the first place anyway?
Inquiring minds want to know.
My View-->Toolbars only has Mail/Formatting/Status choices, none of
which apply to the Address Bar
I dont find anything in preferences either - unless its a setting in
config of course.

Um, why on earth would you send out mail when you dont know to whom its
addressed?

I don't turn off the bars, I close them. Get out the old Net 7.2, and
you'll see what I mean. Using the default theme, there is a little
bar to the right, with a little up arrow. When I click on them, I can
close the various bars. In the Mail program, I can close the Mail
Toolbar, and the menu bar. In the Compose message, I can close the
Mail Toolbar, the Menu Bar, the Address Bar, and the Formating
Toolbar. In the Browser, I can close the Menu Bar, the Navigation
Toolbar, and the Personal Toolbar. And if I have any other bar, like
the Google Bar or the Multizilla Bar, I can close them, too.

Oh, I think some people call them chevrons that I click on.

indeed. Alt tags for pictures, relevant and usable link names etc. etc....

For web sites, there's at least the possibility to use Ctrl++ and
Ctrl+-. I'm not visually impaired (only slightly short-sighted), but
still need to use Ctrl++ to really see the writing in some sites.

An interesting observation from the alternative: the AFAIR first time I

With prices for 17" monitors below $100, and 15" LCDs below $150, I am
sure there are many 17" monitors languishing in attics, and cellars in
the OP's area. Perhaps a friend could contribute one to the OP. I know
I have a couple in the attic...

maybe they are in your part of the world, but not in others.

Interesting Mother Trivia: Elvis Presley, was a mama's boy. He slept
in the same bed with his mother, Gladys, until he reached puberty. Up
until Elvis entered high school, she walked him back and forth to
school every day and made him take along his own silverware so that he
wouldn't catch germs from the other kids. Gladys forbade young Elvis
from going swimming or doing anything that might put him in danger.
The two of them also conversed in a strange baby talk that only they
could understand.

Maybe everyone should live in Texas. Forget that, it would get
crowded... We already HAVE half of Mexico here... sigh.

Better still: check what e. g. underfunded schools, community centers
etc. etc. lack monitors in your area, or whether there's some computer
reuse club/society around.

I know Herbert knows a recycling address, but searching for 'recycle
computers' should give you enough hits and ideas.

The local school here has a 15 workstation lab that was originally built
on a zero budget (not counting the voluntary work hours) using the Linux
Terminal Server Project (LTSP) and donated computers - to many pupils,
the first contact with free software like Firefox. Approx. 2 tons of
clean raw materials saved in the process.

good idea in principle, but....
dunno about Sweden or US, but here, if the "offered technology" is more
than 5 days old, they just don't want to know!

Yeah, that's what some people (pupils included) think, until they log
in, and realize it was all just in their heads...

Apart from not even noticing they're using a whole different OS at
first, comments I've heard are "
how do I get this theme on my Mac/PC?" and (frequently) "Doesn't it have
Internet? Where's Internet on this computer?".

The last comment/question pops up when they can't find the MS Internet
Explorer icon.

But I think the 5 days rule doesn't really apply in the cases I mentioned.

Is SeaMonkey an update of Suite?

Why not simply go to the URL and read? Put simply, SeaMonkey picked up
the Suite tab.
