In my opinion Bugzilla integration is a really late question to ask
for. The first is if you want centralized or decentralized version
control, because you chose one of each and the concepts behind both
are different, and under under what you want to version under which
platform because the quality of the tools available for different
version control systems differ strongly.

CVS is centralized and in some (most?) peoples opinion just dead.
Subversion is a much better alternative, has pretty stable and a lot
of good tools, TortoiseSVN for Windows for example is pretty handy,
and does have a good working integration with Bugzilla for example
using SCMBug.

Mercurial is decentralized, has a TortoiseSVN-pendent called
TortoiseHG and seems widely present to me, but I didn't read of
Bugzilla integration very often. Found just one question on the list
in my inbox.

An alternative for Mercurial, which is for example supported by
SCMBug and therefor should easily integrate with Bugzilla, is git,
which is pretty hyped the last years but in my opinion can't provide
good enough tools and IDE integration, especially on Windows.

To come to an end: Make yourself really familiar with the concepts of
centralized and decentralized version control systems, then look for
tools and IDE integration an than see how you can integrate Bugzilla.
Subversion for example would be a much better choice than CVS.

Mit freundlichen Grüßen,

Anyone installing CVS for a new project in 2010 is out of their mind.
There are about a million better options.

There's an extension which integrates several SCMs with Bugzilla. Google
should find it for you :-)

CVSNT on the other hand is very much alive.

And includes Bugzilla integration out of the box.

Why ?
Ok - if you mean traditional CVS then maybe, but CVSNT seems to cover all the usual requirements.

Uncertainly,
Richard.

Sounds dead to me.

No, it isn't dead, just because you can't get it for free any more.

I should let them provide the reasons for why they found they needed to do that.

My company has a support contract with them as we use it daily. It is still being developed and supported and there is a "new generation" version around, which was called EVS but might now have another name.

Richard.
