Hi all...

Last March we got this whole project rolling by migrating much of the
old Netscape DevEdge content into the new MDC wiki. The temporary
mirror of that content we put up is still available here:

http://devedge-temp.mozilla.org/

I'd appreciate it if I could get some help sifting through that
content to see if there's anything in there that -should- be part of
the MDC that we haven't yet migrated. Keep in mind that the MDC is
solely about developer documentation -- user documentation from the
DevEdge mirror should not be migrated into the MDC wikis.

If you do find something that you think should be migrated, please
post a note in response to this thread to verify. If it's agreed
that the content is appropriate for inclusion to the MDC, you'll be
welcome to migrate it yourself, otherwise I'll add it to the "stuff
to migrate" list here:

http://developer.mozilla.org/en/docs/
MDC:Existing_Content#Priority_Items_for_Migration

As for user documentation that should be resurrected from the DevEdge
mirror, well, we'll sort out what to do with that at some point in
the future.

Thanks for your help.

DevEdge is a bit messy (especially with index.html files removed...).
Am I right that http://devedge-temp.mozilla.org/sitemap/urls.html is a
COMPLETE index of DevEdge?

Honestly, I couldn't say for sure. I know it's a mess, and that's
sort of why i'm asking for help digging around in there :)

Sorry, I'm just not sure.

Heck, I just decided to go with it.

We now have a list of the 877 pages on devedge that google indexes,
listed on the wiki page:
http://developer.mozilla.org/en/docs/User:JesseW/Sandpit

I'm thinking we would go through them and remove ones that have already
been moved, or should not be moved, that way we can be sure to get
everything...

Yes:
DevEdge Netscape Sidebar Tabs
http://devedge-temp.mozilla.org/toolbox/sidebars/

I currently use it, have been using it a lot. I use it more than once a
day. It's worthy, valuable, useful, helpful, powerful, etc.

Removing items that have already been moved from the list seems fine.

A single person deciding that something shouldn't be moved doesn't seem
like the best of ideas -- probably it would be better to mark them in a
way that proposes they not be moved rather than remove them from the
list.

Sorry, I wasn't clear. By "things that probably should be moved", I
only meant things like directory listings, index pages, etc - these do
show up in the google list, but are not "real pages". In the case of
things that may be obsolete, of course I've been leaving them for more
knowledgable people to go through.

I've just stumbled across
http://developer.mozilla.org/en/docs/DevEdge:Priority_Content which
has similat goals and lists DevEdge content currently under migration
(but it has no list of all existing content).

There's a (partial?) list here: http://developer.mozilla.org/en/docs/
DevEdge

That's a list of already migrated content from DevEdge.
