It was a problem with the BSON gems. Only one version can exist on the
server. Latest MM requires 1.0.3 and there is no BSON_EXT 1.0.3, so it
drops back to 1.0, which causes errors. MM will run without BSON_EXT
you just get these annoying log entries:

You can install the extension as follows:
gem install bson_ext
If you continue to receive this message after installing, make sure
that the
bson_ext gem is in your load path and that the bson_ext and mongo
