Stuart Cobb's Brain Tumor

This is Stuart Cobb's incredible story of his recently diagnosed brain tumor that he believes was caused by his cell phone use. Thankfully he has recovered and is now advocating for cell phone safety in Maine.

"I had never heard of the dangers of cell phones until the day I was diagnosed with a brain tumor-the same day my doctor asked me how often I used my cell phone and to which side I typically held the phone. The doctor's questioning sparked curiosity in me. Why would he ask such questions was my first thought. It was not until later when I got home to do my own research I found out why those questions were asked. To my surprise, I found out a lot.

On April 27, 2010 I got diagnosed with a brain tumor. It was the day before my youngest daughter's birthday when I met with the neurologist. He told me I had to have brain surgery if I wanted a better chance to live. At this point, my 2 daughters and my wife are still not sure if they are going to lose me, as they could not completely excise the tumor. I was only 34 years old at the time.

The surgeon explained to me that I would be having an awake craniotomy. This surgery happened the day before my wife's birthday. It took me 3 weeks to recover. I spent my 35th birthday in rehab learning how to walk and talk all over again." Stuart Cobb
