Here, below the long explanatory introduction, is this
month's edition of the Book Turners Club List.

The purpose of the Book Turners Club is to ensure
that books written by the denizens of misc.writing receive
the glory and notice that they deserve. When you opened
this post, you became a member of this Club and you assumed
the responsibility of rushing to all of your local book
stores and searching for these books.

Any books on this List that are shelved with only
their spines showing must be Turned so their front covers
face out (hence the Club's name.) Move books from dark
dingy corners to brightly lit main racks (the Bestseller
rack is a good place.) Books that shriek "Buy me!" and jump
into your arms must be obeyed.

If you find a bookstore clerk shelving a worthy book
in an unworthy position, take said clerk to the nearest
fireworks display on the 3rd of July (no, I won't explain
why municipalities are displaying fireworks on the 3rd of
July instead of the 4th) and have said clerk count each and
every one of the sparks shot out by each and every rocket
(excluding those with "red glare").

These books are listed in no particular order, which
saves wear on the List Keeper. It also forces everyone to
notice the books of other writers while searching for their
own.

By fiat of the List Keeper, magazines and journals
edited and/or published by denizens of misc.writing also are
listed. So are regular columns in magazines, newspapers,
and journals. Said magazines and journals must be stocked
by bookstores, newsstands, or other stores so that they also
may be Turned. E-zines, Web pages and other 'Net
publications are not listed because the inability to
Turn them frustrated too many BTC members.

Please send all corrections, additions, and deletions
to Wendy Chatley Green -- wcg...@cris.com (Valid
complaints will be discussed with the complainer; frivolous
ones will be shared for the enjoyment of all. This includes
any complaints from book store employees who don't recognize
humor when they see it.)

Remember: any book published by a regular,
semi-regular, or irregular poster to misc.writing is
eligible for the list. Books by one-shot posters (i.e.,
"Here's my info--send me the list by e-mail since I don't
read the group") are ineligible. The BTCL is sometimes
posted monthly. Other times, it isn't. Void where
recommended by the Health Department.
