yo, dig my new Unicornian sig:

how flawed is YOUR logic?

IF 3 + 3 = 5
AND 2 + 2 = 3 + 3
AND 3 > 2
THEN 2 + 2 = 5 is:

yes. the lack. there were none there when i sent my post.

really?

hmmm...

indeed.

anyway, i've noticed the same thing for almost
all the posts i read thru google which start
a line with the word "From." not just from me.

google "From" and you'll see what i mean.

there was no ">" in front of any Froms when
i sent the post. there never are.

not even when i look at it thru the google
preview window.

Well, they arrived with them.

I don't see what you mean.

I made a test post using the Google Groups posting tool. I wrote

from
from
from

and it came through

<http://groups.google.com/group/alt.test/msg/2d62087535aec6ec>

I then tried

From
From
From

and same deal

Can't recreate it.

Sal,

The last time I used Google to post (eons ago), dragging and
dropping a quoted segment added the symbols to indicate it was
quoted text. Perhaps that's the reason for them.

well i've seen them. for several weeks now.

maybe even several months, i forget.

and not just in my own posts.

and those showed up in google with no ">" prefixes.

unlike when i do it.

from
from
from

From
From
From

no ">" prefixes when writing in windows notepad

nor when previewing the post thru google preview

well, i know i'm not seeing things.

i've printed out some of the posts from others
where the same >From thinger was happening.

did you try googling "From" in some clever way
so as to find it at the start of lines?

i believe you might have to use it with other
words since it's kinda like the word "the" and
whatnot and so would probably not show up if
it were your only criteria.

anyway, i know for certain i've seen other posts
with that >From thinger happening.

and i'm not about to let the rabid right paint me
as a kook for seeing them. well... they can paint,
but it just won't stick.

i wipe it off with spit.

Hurricane Dubya -- The Aftermath

just look at all of that immoral hypocritical debris
scattered all over the fricken' place. whoa.

what a mess.

so, how do national leaders support and/or inspire
local leaders and other people in serious distress?

1] strum a guitar with a great big clueless smile?

2] buy thousand dollar shoes that don't shine?

3] get-on-with-their-lives tricycle marathons?

4] undeserved, unearned, five-week vacations?

5] trite deceptive sloganeering?

6] orchestrate massive smearmonger attacks on any
and all of their sentient critics?

7] divert attention away from themselves, their lies,
their mistakes, their callousness, their utterly
despicable and cowardly irresponsibilities?

8] evilly, falsely invoke "God" to maintain the
self-defeating support of the misguided blind
faith gullibles?

Tried cut-n-paste. Tried cut-n-paste from the note that was showing
above the reply box.

Nope. <http://groups.google.com/group/alt.test/msg/145396fccb3cc803>
and Nope. <http://groups.google.com/group/alt.test/msg/38e18af4d4f6e3a1>

Hadn't realized that the Reply click from the individual post in the
thread worked differently than the Reply click from Show Options.

So I tried cutn'paste from Notepad using the Reply click from Show Options.

Still Nope. <http://groups.google.com/group/alt.test/msg/1721a97c5b522240>

Sorry, Z. Can't recreate it.

hmmm... it stopped doing it.

maybe it needs more than just the single word "from"

i'll test it again with some extra words:

from the halls of absurdity, to the shores of New Orleans

>From the halls of absurdity, to the shores of New Orleans

if there's no ">" prefixes before the "From" words above,
they've either just now fixed the glitch (after months of
ignoring it)... or... um... well... your guess is as good
as mine.

well, probably not nearly as good as mine, but...

and yo, Ray... your explanation is as stupid as usual.

congrats on a near perfect record.

the luck of the Irish? no. the luck of the Italians.

Galileo. Leonardo Da Vinci. Christopher Columbus. etc.

If you used the quoted forwarding, that's what did it. Do you see
how quoting that single line of your post makes the symbol?

heh. so only the capitalized "From" got the ">" thinger.

whatever.

maybe it has something to do with the way google posting
thinks about the word "From" due to "From: GooglePoster"?

pretty silly glitch, if you ask me.

but shit happens.

anyway, thanks for experimenting with moi, Sal.

OTOH, Ray, go fuck yourself, as usual.

how flawed is YOUR logic?

More than just From it is!

<http://groups.google.com/group/alt.test/msg/0c3bde2a47b4608a>

Note that the From gets a > with no space: (>From my house ...) plus
there were two <CR><LF>s stuck between the last >From line and the

Remember back eons ago when you had * in your Subject header and Google
just couldn't deal with it?

Just did a misc.writing search looking for posts that had *.

Want to know something really scary? Googja is pulling up 920,000
archived posts for misc.writing. We're >< to hitting the million mark.

Should we have some sort of party when we hit it? Should we have a
betting pool to see who it will be?
