I know I play computer games including on line ones, mostly to pass time and to me they are incredibly boring. I have owned a Nintendo DSi for several years now..  biggest grip is the screen size. This year for my up coming birthday my wife bought me the DSi XL model with the larger screen so I was looking for a new game to add to my collection and I found Art Academy found some blurbs on it and turns out it is used by some of the art schools in  Paris (I know la de da)

I bought it for myself and found it was more than the blurbs say ,, I love drawing and it is an actual art course much more than I was expecting.. beyond digital art that I am used to. more in the realm of sketching and when I erase some thing I find myself trying to brush the eraser waste a way.

The question come when does something leave the realm of a computer game and enter into the realm of art?

Much like the difference between play and creation. Yet somehow,
focus on difference seems just a distraction from the fact that all is
Brahman.

I agree very much with Molly, that point is all in the eye of the
beholder, in all things. Art is in all things, if you can get in the
mode: programming, carpentry, discussion, etc. I think in the case of
this game the engineers successfully integrated principles to facilitate
the process for art of drawing. Perhaps by making the interface
facilitate as much as possible the process without getting in the way of
your actual creativity. Double plus since the platform is portable it is
uniquely qualified. The hallmark of good software in general, but I
would add giving the user advanced options also is a plus.

A few years back a friend and I were hanging out and discussing
mythology, he was explaining the morphology of the sun-god from
sumerian, egyptian, and on... Someone else put down their game and
walked over and just gave a five minute rant, which I am sure came from
an RPG, but the rich references to actual mythology was just astounding.
After that I had a new respect for the art of gaming and its potential
to teach.

All individualities are unique and different ; when we say all is Brahman we mean that the basis of all is the spirit which upholds all the individualities but that doesn't mean that all individualities are one. As all earthen pots are one only in the sense that they are made of mud all is Brahman only in the sense that Brahman upholds all. " I am He as you are me as we are all together " is poetic but in reality we are all different. A train , bus , truck , cycle etc. are one only in the sense that they are made of iron ; but in reality such talk is foolish. We are all different and we should respect each other as brothers in spirit only and not in fact.

What of society? Is humanity one? Each of us, as individuals, is, in
fact, made of billions of 'individual' cells. Each cell is made up
of billions of individual molecules. When does 'individuality' begin
or end?

Anything that acts and reacts ceases to be at a point of time and becomes one with Atman.

Interesting observation Pat, which is why I look to the collective
with respect to the individual. The effects of the micro on the macro
and vise versa, are inseperably connected. Our awareness, as a
species, has evolved to a level that we boast of cosmic consciousness
but I doubt that many have acheived much more than global
consciousness if that. There have been exceptional "individuals" with
amazing talents, such as Francis Bacon, who have tapped into this
"field of conscious energy" and as a result, has produced some amazing
works. If this could be worked into a video game it would be quite an
adventure game. We could call it "Mind Games" ;)

Alternatively, it's God's Video Game that we call 'Reality'. Virtual
for Him...REAL for us.

Alter-alternatively, we could activate our own future mode and stop
doing stupid things in the first place... ;-)

Ahhh, but 'stupid' is an opinion. If we could activate our own
'future-mode' now, we'd lose out on certain 'present' aspects, without
which we may not be able to determine if our acts in said 'future-
mode' are, indeed, stupid. I.e, giant leaps forward sometimes
overlook vital steps and missing vital steps, in MY opinion, is
stupid. ;-)

Sometimes, the victory is to have failed. How many times have you
prayed or wished for something and it did not happen only to see later
that it would have been a disaster. Plus- where's the challenge of
working through life and its ups and downs? I think knowing the
outcome might be a good tool for an author who can then write
backwards and set things in motion- also in other arts where you have
a certain goal but even then there are mysterious byroads along the
way. Plus- we all know we will die but who thinks of it every morning?
Now science is fiddling with some tail of a cell in mice that they
think will extend youth eventually. What do you think of that?

It is art if it pleases and inspires you, Allan. What do you think the
purpose of art is or should be? Who determines this, really?

Rigs  improving my skill at painting for me is fantastic, and it has become my sketch pad and camera which I carry with me..  not bad for a game  I think  you are right some times failure is success.. as for mice does not surprise me as for mice   as for me I am following the  collider activity    am fascinated by jet plumes.
