Hi all,

In Mifos, there is logic that says we do not allow backdated transactions before last meeting date when applying loan repayments.  Do we know why that is there, and pros and cons of allowing it?

I remember vaguely there might be an issue with accounting to allow it before the last meeting date?  But not sure if that’s right or if I understand why that is.

Thanks

Kay

Kay,

It’s a general control that I think we should make optional.  The idea would be to force the data entry people to get the payments recorded within the time allowed.  For just that reason, if we did decide to make it optional we might want to put more functionality around it (ie, if you have to backdate more than 1 transaction back, get admin approval – or make it configuration option, etc.).

I’m not clear how it would affect accounting since I believe accounting should generally be based on the “create date” of the records and be less concerned with the physical transaction date.  (I could definitely be wrong on this).
