Word 2003/2007 - "Fix Broken Text"?

It's still a handy feature for say Russian texts copied to Word on
non-Russian computer
and looking like 'gibberish" (really, accented Western European letters
shown instead of Russian).

Word 2000/XP has a Microsoft download page for eefonts.exe macro that
creates
"Fix Broken Text' in Tools menu

Microsoft sometimes calls it "broken fond add-in"

But how to enable it on Word 2003 (where Microsoft site says, "it's a
part of product")
or in Word 2007 (where Microsoft says, "it's not part of the product
anymore but
can be obtained on-line)?

On Office 2003 download site -

there is no such add-in neither under "Office 2003 ad-ins" nor under
"Word 2003 add-ins"

Hi Paul,

For Word 2003, run the Windows Control Panel > Software > Office setup > Add
or remove features.
I'm sure you'll find it listed as quickly as I could, likely something along
" Shared features > International support".

For 2007, this page says it's still available online:

I'm pretty sure the eefonts.dot from Word2000 still works, and they are
referring to that.
It's in the Office Ressource Kit Tools for the older versions. But you got
it already, so I didn't have to tell you.

There is no such items in my Control Panel (do you really have there an
icon called "Software"), but yes, I thought about that way -
find Office 2003 CD-ROM and run Setup assuming it will offer me
"Install / Repair / Install additional features"

Right, somewhere there.

I did not do it - because I was asking on behalf of another person
(who wrote me e-mail in Russian with that question) while in my Word
2003 I already have such option - but could not recall how did I add
it :-)

No, I saw in forums that people tried that - it did not work neither for
Word 2003 nor for 2007 - they saw error message,
"You need to have Word _2000_ to use that macro".

Finally I recalled one more way to do it (aside from running Setup)
and that person tried it - it worked:

- I found a note in my archive that Word 2003 has such option already
and it is "installed on 1st use"
- so I suggested that guy to create "1st use situation":
- have "gibberish" text in Word 2003 window (copied from somewhere)
- select that text
- Tool/Language - "Set Language" - choose "Russian

These steps made the text readable (Cyrillic text) _and_ after that
he realized that there is a new item in Tools menu -
"Fix Broken Text".

That is, the option was "installed on 1st use" :)

Klaus is looking at a German version. In English it's "Add Remove
programs".
