I would like to be able to have multiple Word documents open with tabs,
similar to Excel worksheets, at the bottom of my screen for access.

You're not alone, but wishing doesn't make it happen. Not a possibility with
Word.

You may want to try WordToys at http://www.wordtoys.com.

Hi Dehsael,

It's not a feature offered in today's Word versions,
although you can get similar functionallity using the
'Windows in Taskbar' settings in Word combined with
the 'group icons' settings in Windows XP.

Tabbed documents are offered in other Word processors such as
IBM-Lotus Wordpro and Atlantis
http://rssol.com/shared/download/scrnshot/atlant10/00.gif
that can create Word usable documents
and you can add a tabbed 'feature' to Word through add-on's such
as WinTabs http://gp.17slon.com/wintabs/index.htm
or through a different metaphor approach with the WordToys addin
http://wordtoys.com/ and its navigator bar.

Do you have "Windows in Taskbar" checked on the Edit tab of Tools | Options?
