Importing multiple video clips

I am using WMM 2.1 with SP3. It recently changed to only allow importing one
video clip at a time. If I select multiple clips only the last one is
imported. If I import one and then try to import another the new one replaces
the old one. The files are only about 5MB .avi's and it has no trouble at
all with much larger files 50-100MB, but only one at a time. No problem with
photos, it will import all I want.

I hadn't used WMM for a while, but as I recall it used to import multiple
files. The current situation makes it very awkward to build videos from my
Canon camera video clips as I have to place a clip on the time line and then
import another.

With Movie Maker open...what happens if you
go to...View / Collections? Does it open the
Collections Pane where you can see the file tree
that displays the folders for the files you previously
imported?

I can work around this for now. It just means that I have to plan everything out on paper and then import the clips in the order I want them, one at a time and imbed it before importing the next file. Other than this problem WMM is an ideal tool for my use. After reading previous posts I hesitate to reinstall.

Did the issue begin when you installed SP3?

SP3 was installed on 24 sep. and I dont think the problem goes back that
far. I did a system restore as far back as it would go and there is no
difference although it would not remove SP3.

Personally...I would try uninstalling SP3...it may
not be the fix but IMHO...it's worth a try. If uninstalling
SP3 improves the issue...I would download the
complete SP3 file to a folder on my hard drive and
re-install from there. Sometimes large files can
become corrupted when installing from the net.

Sorry...I thought it was worth a try.

Maybe reinstalling SP2 would be the
next thing to try...that should reinstall
Movie Maker 2.1.

Generally, users install from the net but this
site allows you to download the complete
file to your hard drive before installing.

It's good for a network administrator because
you can burn it on a CD and install it on as
many computers as you need to.

And it's good for a single machine because
if you ever need to install it again...you'll have
it available without waiting for a download.

I removed SP3 again and attemted to remove SP2 but it came as part of
Windows and I couldn't find a way to remove WMM or SP2, so I downloaded the
IT pro Service Pack 2 and installed it over the existing. Still the same, so
I am guessing it is something outside of WMM or the SPs. I''ll just live with
it. Thanks again for your help.
