If one user has a browser window of Internet Explorer open, the other
user cannot open IE, the control panel, My Computer, etc.

This is the error message that pops up when the Control Panel is
attempted to be opened:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error!
Program:C:\Windows\explorer.exe
The application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual
way. Please contact the application's support team for more
information.

however, that is NOT installed. I've searched everywhere for it, no
luck. I've also inspected the add-ons and haven't found anything (that
I know of) to be suspicious.

It's Windows XP. Any suggestions?

panel as directed when i send a report about this problem. I don't know what
to do. what i found to work is by restarting my computer. any other

Hi,
If running XP SP2 (IE version 6.00.2900.xxxx) go to IE> Tools> Manage
add-ons and disable add-ons. If the problem goes away, you will have to
determine which add-on was the culprit.

Whether or not you're running XP SP2, ToolbarCop from
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/toolbarcop.htm should help. Heed the warning to
create a System Restore point before removing BHOs, etc.

Since items such as the Google toolbar, Yahoo toolbar can easily be
reinstalled, there's no danger in uninstalling them.

Also, see the posts from Ramesh in this thread

Hope this helps,
Don
