I'm trying to install some new programs, but keep getting an error 1324
message (My Documents folders contains invalid characters). I'm at my wit's
end. I've tried everything, to no avail. Any suggestions?

Inspect the "My Documents" path in the registry.
Example: http://windowsxp.mvps.org/err1324.htm

Hi Sethspapa04,

If you have not already done so, try this.....
Open the registry editor and navigate to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User
Shell Folders
In the right pane, locate "Personal" under the Name column and double-click
on it. In the Value data field, ensure that the path to the My Documents
folder is correct and change if necessary.
For example, C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\My Documents
