Address Bar missing after SP3 Install

I installed SP3 the other day and afterward, I noticed that the address bar
is missing from the task bar. Not only was it missing from the taskbar, it
was also missing from the list of toolbars so I couldn't even turn it on.
I love the address bar on the task bar. I use it every day. And now it
looks like MS completely removed it with SP3.
It looks like I have the option to add custom toolbars: Right-click Taskbar
>> New Toolbar... >> New Toolbar (Choose a folder, or type an Internet
address) dialog box. If I knew how to create a toolbar, I would just
recreate it. Any pointers? Does anyone know of another address bar toolbar
out there? Are there any files that I could copy from an SP2 machine to
this machine to recover my address bar on the taskbar?

Rather than adding third-party toolbars or swapping in earlier .dll
versions, try this:
1. create a new bar on the taskbar from the options still available (Links
for example)
2. drag it to the desktop to undock it (it will change to a panel, you have
to
undock it as it won't work otherwise)
3. now you can add the address bar to the panel (rightclick on the undocked
panel)
4. drag the panel from the desktop back to the taskbar (presto, two toolbars
in the taskbar - one of which is "address")
5. remove the unwanted "Links" bar (or whichever you used - rightclick and
"close")
I've literally just tried this on an SP3 machine and, slap me sideways with
a wet haddock, it worked!
I've now got to go around and revert all the machines I've swapped in the
SP2 browseui.dll file to after their SP3 update back to
standard.........winge, winge.

of May this year in another thread round here on this topic. It's buried a
way down though as a rethread, so I thought that it might have been
overlooked and was worth restating.
I must say though, I was gobsmacked when it worked, given the extensive
traffic round here on a variety of workarounds and I take my hat off to
whoever it was that originally worked this one out.

We found also this workaround.
But these operations has to be done again after a log off.
Isn't the same for you ?

Yes, it disappears if you reboot the machine .. too bad, I was very
happy when I
read the initial posting.
Does anyone have a fix? I just like having easy access to the command
line. I
know I can do Win-R, but it's much nicer to just type into the address
bar.
This will keep me from upgrading to SP3 on my other machines until I
can find
a satisfactory solution.

Thanks .. I'll give that a try .. still puzzled why this feature is
gone (yes, I read about
the legal issue, still not quite clear to me).

After creating the address bar using Tim C. workaround, i moved the taskbar
to the top of my screen (just hold on the mouse click on the taskbar, from
its default position on bottom, and drag it left then top), then i drag the
address bar towards the bottom! this way, the address bar remains there even
after restart! Now i have the address bar the place i'm used to it to be, on
the bottom of the screen, while the taskbar is on top which i am getting used
to it :).
i followed this problem since the release of SP3, and i think this method
would be the best solution we can reach, hoping it will close this running on
problem...
finally, i hope this post would be beneficial for all of you guys and for
all who are interested in this feature and want it back.
