Sometime my posts are not reconized by the newsserver and even though the
posts go out the do not appear in the newsgroup. I have a copy of the post
in my outbox so I know they did go out, so where did they go????

I am using Outlook Express 6.0.2900.5512 to post the messages.

Into the ether. ;-)

I've had it happen a few times over the many many posts I have done. It's
not common - but it can happen. Sometimes - I am pretty sure it is a
filter - because often I will repeat the same post over and over - and it
will not show up - then I remove the single word that I think in my paranoia
might be blocking the posting - and amazingly the post goes through.

Coincidence? Maybe.

For a while there - I noticed that Google Groups didn't seem to be archiving
(or maybe falling behind) - that weirded me out too.

Are you certain your posts aren't there?

AFAIK the only posts that get filtered are those with obscenities in
the subject or the body.

I've tested it ;->

The MS news server has filtered a number of my posts. Here's one (it's
been archived on Google):

QJKdnSopn7Vmft_U...@cavtel.net

Apparently, MS also filters posts containing names of legit newsgroups,
including:

alt . comp . hardware . pc-homebuilt

(wihtout the spaces, of course)

The word "discr_t_" (e's in the blanks, as in "discr_t_ audio card")
apparently is too obscene, too!

Oops, I just used the "O" word! Let's see if *this* post makes it!

MS doesn't filter those groups, MS just doesn't carry them on their NNTP
servers. Not carrying a group is different that filtering post to a group
which is carried.

On rare occasions, articles I have posted have failed to propagate.
Sufficiently rare occurrence that I have never bothered to investigate.

I didn't say that MS filtered any groups. I said that it filters *posts*
containing text, such as the names of certain newsgroups.

From personal experience. For instance, suppose I wanted to direct you

we both would have to avoid using using the MS news server in order for
