System Restore Link in Help and Support

WinXP Home, SR-2

When I go to Start, Help and Support, listed under Pick a Task, is a link
that reads: Undo changes to your computer with System Restore. Clicking
that link no longer gets me to System Restore. However, if I go through the
Performance and maintenance in Help and Support I can get to it, as I can if
I go through Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools.

How can I get that link to function? I believe it used to. I've searched
the KB but can't find the answer.

TIA!

Hi Frank,

You may find a solution here. Including number 9, reinstalling Help and
Support.

I reviewed those and tried #9 and restarted but same situation as before.

Frank,

This problem occurs after tightening the local machine zone security
settings. Click Start, Run and type this command:

cmd /c reg export "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet
Settings\Zones\0" C:\zone.txt

Then open C:\Zone.txt file using Notepad. Copy the entire contents and paste
them in your reply.

Frank,

If per-machine security settings are enabled, export this registry key
similarly:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones\0

Also if you have Windows XP SP2 installed, use the script from the following
page, which removes helpctr.exe
"FeatureControl" restrictions if any.

http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.windowsxp.general/msg/3b88da09c7636506?

Note that helpctr.exe restrictions are not enabled in a clean installation
of Windows.

Frank,

Both the values are correctly set, and I don't see why the problem occurs.
Don't have further ideas right now, but will look into this.

Ramesh, thanks for all your ideas. One other thing, if it might help. When
I mouse over the link, it doesn't change to a hand, as occurs with all the
other links that do function properly.

Excellent work, Frank. This problem is seen in the earlier build (B2P
7.0.5296.0) and seems to be an TIF INDEX.DAT related problem. This however
is fixed in the recent build which was released on March 20th (7.0.5335.5)

Internet Explorer 7: Beta 2 Preview - released on March 20th:
