Well, I am the unhappy recipient of WinFixer.

I have looked at Google groups for removal instructions. Found Kelly's
suggestion to use Spyware Removal Guideline.com's instructions, but...

They seem fairly complicated for a dummy like me, so I wonder if there is a
simpler method available.

Will appreciate any good guidance you can give me.

Thank you very much.

Symantec's Vundo (AKA Winfixer) Removal Tool has been updated twice since
the weekend. It *may* help:

When all else fails, HijackThis v1.99.1
(http://aumha.net/downloads/hijackthis.zip) is the preferred tool to use.
It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware. **Post

Norton/Symantec is pretty good for coming up with removal tools very
quickly for new nasties.

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be helping at all in most cases.

BobI, PABear, and Plato:

Thank you, all, very much for your help. Will try Symantec's solution and
report later.

Best to you all.

Save the time & effort: It doesn't work. Post your HijackThis log to an
appropriate forum to get the ball rolling.

1. The thread to which you're replying is nearly a month old.

2. Did you bother to read further posts in this thread?...
