So can someone tell me where I can find XP's defrag
and how I can run it manually for any disk whenever
I want to?
Someone got Symantec's defrag to work for me by running
XP's defrag first. So it looks as if I may be better off
using XP's as my basic defrag for now.

Try right clicking on my computer and selecting manage. In the computer
management MMC that appears - find the Disk Defragmenter under Storage.
Disk defragmenter can also be used from the command line:
Open a command prompt by going to Start->Run then typing 'cmd' and hitting
enter.
From the command prompt enter defrag and hit enter to see the available
options.
