I have tried the usual ways to get Show Desktop to work such as:
[Shell]
Command=2
IconFile=explorer.exe,3
[Taskbar]
Command=ToggleDesktop

However, when I run it I get a box asking me to change the icon. Whether I
change it or not that is all it ever does.
Any ideas?

I have also found a file in c:\windows called Explorer (there are 2 with
that name, the one I am referring to looks like a regular folder with a
magnifying glass on it. When I click that I also get the change icon box.
Same thing.
Maybe corrupted something when testing various registry cleaners? Hate the
thot of a re-install and system restore does not work, as usual.
???????????????????????????
