After MS helped get SP3 installed on my computer 4+ hours. I have many left
over files.

Can I safely delete them?

1. C;\ windows-kb936929-sp3-x86-enu.exe it is @ 324 MB?

2. C;\ $hf_mig$?

3. C;\ $ntservicepackuninstall$ Inside looks like SP3 files

4. If I search my hard drive with "*.tmp" I get @ 1,500 files. Some in
windows folders, system folder, etc. Can I delete those?

Thanks

Yes

The only one that has to stay always to prevent problems. See here why:

If you wan't uninstall any patch, yes.

If you ever need to do an upgrade/repair install, you will not be able to
unless the service pack on your XP disk matches or exceeds what is on your
machine. If I were you I would at least keep the SP3 uninstaller.

To confirm!

I can safely remove:
1. C;\ windows-kb936929-sp3-x86-enu.exe it is @ 324 MB.

2. C;\ $ntservicepackuninstall$ Inside looks like SP3 files.

Question never answered.
1. If I search my hard drive with "*.tmp" I get @ 1,500 files. Some in

windows folders, system folder, etc. Can I delete those?

Any file with the tmp extension is fair game for removal. As XP will not
allow deletion of any file which is in use, there is little risk in doing
damage.

I leave .tmp files with the current date on them, but perhaps I'm just
being overly cautious.

A1. Yes.

A2. If you delete this one and ever need to uninstall SP3, you won't be able
to do so and will have to reinstall WinXP.

A3. Reboot and use Disk Cleanup to delete TEMP files (and anything else you
choose; "Compress old files" does NOT delete anything). Disk Cleanup will
not delete any files from the past 48 hours; Windows won't allow you to
manually delete TEMP files needed during the current boot.
