I have just installed Windows XP Professional with SP 2 on my computer. My
USB are only 1.1 , and I want to change them to USB 2. I was told to download
the latest drivers from Windows. Where can I find the latest driver for a USB
2. Can I install a later edition of Service Pack 2 even though I already have
SP on my computer. Would this upgrade the USB 1.1 drivers to a USB 2.
Is it possible to just find the Driver I require and download this by
itself.HOW
Thanks

USB 1/1.1 cannot be upgraded to USB2 by use of a driver. Your
motherboard either has USB2 capability or it does not. If your PC
doesn't have USB2.0 you can purchase a PCI card for ~$20.00
that will give you that capability. You should check your computer's
documentation to see what USB technology is employed on it.

I had a PCI card just installed with 4 USB Ports, but was told it was only
1.1, but I could upgrade to 2 with a windows USB 2 driver. Is that correct,
or have I been told some mistruths ....... am I stuck with a USB 1.1
capability...... Cheers

Sounds like you've been hosed.
Note: Service pack 2 comes with all the drivers needed for USB2
open device manager under the USB listing if it says "enhanced" then you
have USB2.

That information helps out. You'll need to look in Device Manager,
under the Universal Serial Bus Controller category. If you recent
Add-in card is USB2 capable - you'll see an entry in the listing with
the wording "Enhanced Host Controller". If it doesn't appear then
scan the list and look for "Unknown Device". It's possible that the
card was added to the machine and it didn't have drivers installed
so XP enumerated it as "Unknown". You may need to enable a
Device Manager option "Show Hidden Devices" (Click View) to
be able to see all entries. If any Unknown devices are listed, Right
Click each one and from the context menu choose Uninstall. Then
reboot your PC and XP (SP2) should find the correct drivers.

To access Device Manager, Click Start, Run (Type) Devmgmt.Msc
[Press Enter]

Control panel/add hardware/next/''yes i have already connected the
hardware''/ choose USB device press next and install automaticly.

SP2 does not install USB2devices on its ownyou have to do the above.

You can tell if you have USB2 drivers install by using the device manager ,
you should see that one of you USB hubs has ''enchanced'' in it thats USB2
