You should be able to restore it using the original restoration method
(CD or Recovery partition) provided by IBM. Consult the laptop's manual.

The computer vendor has to provide you with some means to restore the
system. They have three options.
1. Installation CD for the XP OS
2. Recovery CD
3. Hidden partition on the hard drive with an image of the drive as
received from the factory.
Check the documentation that came with the computer or contact the
computer's tech support for info on how to reinstall XP.

Unless it gives you some option appears when the system is restarted to to
restore the system (which would indicate some sort of automated recovery
process based on a hidden partition on the hard drive), then your only
choice is to purchase a copy of XP and install it. You can also try
contacting the computer manufacturer to see if you can purchase a recovery
CD for your system.
> My daughter has accidentally formatted C: drive on my laptop.
How did she do that? It's actually hard to do with Windows, and requires
booting from a diskette.

With an OEM version like yours, your only recourse is with the OEM.
Microsoft won't help you, and you should contact IBM.

Id you didn't get the installation CD and all documentation with the
purchase, than all you bought was the laptop. You'll need to purchase
your own licenses for any software you want to use on that computer. If
the seller said that the software was included, then you need to contact
him/her to get the CD and documentation. Otherwise, contact eBay to
file a complaint; you've been ripped off.
