The Norton Protection Center Icon is on my System Tray and I change it
in "Tray Properties" to "Always Hide" from "Always Show". This is fine
until I restart my system and it changes back to "Always Show". No
problem with other Icons that I hide, but this one keeps changing
back. Any thoughts on how to make the "Always Hide" stick with this
Icon?

Operating System is WinXP SP2 with all updates.

Thanks for any suggestions.
Charlie

most likely there is a setting IN Norton that is re-enabling the icon
...look within Norton for "disable icon display" or the like

Charliec,

In my opinion, the "Norton Protection Center Icon" is an annoying
advertising ploy by Symantec. I think that it demonstrates that they have
very little regard for their customers. However, it's not too hard to get rid
of.

Go to Start/Run and type Services.msc and click OK.

In the Services (Local) window highlight "Norton Protection Center Service".
Right click it and select "Properties".

In the 'Startup type" box select "Disabled". Then click the "Stop" button.
Click OK at the bottom of the window.

If you want to turn it on again, reverse the procedure.

Now thumb your nose at Symantec.
