Identifying Motherboard's Make and Model

I am looking for a utility which can help me identifying the make and
model of motherboard. I need such a utility because of the following:
I am helping my dear old aunt reviving her old Pentium 3 computer. Her
HD has gone kaput and I'm giving her my still working 80GB to make her
PC works again.
I've got a problem though ...
This dear ol' aunt doesn't know where she has put the driver CD for
this PC, a no-name brand generic PC.
I tried eyeballing the mobo for a clue, unfortunately, I can't find
any "mark" or "model" printed anywhere.
Now I'm stumped.
How to download the required drivers if I don't know the make and
model of the motherboard, which has integrated VGA graphic?

When I tried getting Everest, I was sent to a page that said the
freeware version is no longer available.
I have been using Belarc for an excellent hardware / software / OS

Move some cables outta the way. Yer already going to install a drive so
yer not afraid to get your hands dirty right?
Mobo id is often an FCC ID # xxx-xxx-xxxx or something.
Any identifying marks can be run thru a search engine.
Ive found info on every mobo Ive searched on. What brand is the box?
None? Hmmm what BIOS screen do ya get? Award, Phoenix?

give you a Windows XP system where you can find the info.

Be very careful what boot CD you use with Win98SE,
especially don't boot Bart PE for XP, it will trash your
MBR.
There is a boot CD called Ultimate Boot CD, or
UBCD. It is safe to use on Win98SE.
Google for it (ubcd) and d/l it and burn it.
Then you can boot it and run system tools, motherboard
tools, NSSI, which will tell you the make model and
chipset (under COMMAND in the execute bar).
As someone pointed out, everest may require that
it run under Windows, and maybe some of the others,
this will work around that. Good luck.

I'm too lazy to grep the parent post but IIRC the OP implied a NON WORKING
system. No booty, no OSy :)
I could be wrong but thats the way he came across.
Boot from a linux cd and it'll tell you about the system too.
My experience has been that finding the printed FCC ID is your best bet.
Second is browse the makers site for klews....if its like Dell or Gateway.

If the pc is on XP you can use:
start-run-"dxdiag"
your motherboard make and model will be under "system"

You don't need to know the mobo to attach that hard drive.
Not easy to believe someone wants to start a project to revive an 8
year old PC based on a no-name mobo. CPU is probably not much more
than 800 MHz and any Slot 1 board may be loose. The fans will be
vulnerable to failure. The optical drive will feel slow. Probably has
no USB. That's not a good machine for an aunt.

use the Belarc Advisor at: http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html and look
at "main circuit board".
Someone suggested that it's dangerous spyware. I don't think so. And neither
do most responsible, reasonable people. I still recommend that you use the
Belarc Advisor.

To be fair it does look like spam. It is a sparse message telling nobody in
particular (directed at everyone) to download and use a product that nobody
immediately asked for. That’s /very/ spam like.
However, it may just be that there have been several instances of people asking
for help and not knowing how to identify their motherboard, and this was just
like a flyer on the wall to help out. Of course it is not really going to do
much good since the kind of people that need help figuring out what motherboard
they have don’t usually peruse for random, helpful posts.

told you how to find who the manufacturer of your motherboard is. It is
simply putting a command (forgot) into the run. Try tracking it down at MS.
