In Win98 I used to have a 'power tool' on the send to list which was
'Send to any folder'. When opened it displayed a full directory tree,
and I used to find this VERY useful. I can't seem to find one for XP
anywhere; am I missing something?

A good scare is better than good advice.

That one causes obscure wierd things to happen.

http://www.microsoft.com/Windows95/downloads/contents/WUToys/W95PwrToysSet/Default.asp
Install the Windows 95 Send To Power Toys. After installing go to Add/Remove programs in Control Panel and select Send To Extension Power Toys, click Add/Remove and clear the checkboxes for the three mail extensions. Type the following line in Start - Run.

regsrv32 sendmail

This fixes the one problem that installing Win95 Power Toys Send To causes. It still worthwhile installing then fixing for the added functionally of Send To Powertoys. Win98 Send To Desktop As Shortcut and Powertoys Send to Mail can't co-exist, but Win 98 includes it's own Send To Mail.

This makes 95's sendto toy work on 98/2000/ME/XP

Here is a simple registry change that can add not only a "move-to folder"
but also a "Copy-to folder" option to your right-click menu.

Open your registry and find the key below:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers

To enable the Copy To Folder menu option create a new subkey called "Copy
To" and set the (Default) value to "{C2FBB630-2971-11d1-A18C-00C04FD75D13}".

To enable the Move To Folder menu option create a new subkey called "Move
To" and set the (Default) value to "{C2FBB631-2971-11d1-A18C-00C04FD75D13}".

Changes should take effect immediately, right click on folder to view the
new options.

Settings:
System Key: [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers]
Name: (Default)
Type: REG_SZ (String Value)

This information was obtained from www.winguides.com

I did it and it works great.

You can use the original. For a complete discussion of all generations of
Windows PowerToys and where/how you can use them in different Windows
versions, see: http://aumha.org/a/powertoy.htm

Do read it, please, before installing the old PowerToy, because there are a
couple of things to be aware of, and fixes are given for them.

Thanks to everybody for the help and suggestions. This one seems very
'neat & tidy' BUT it only shows up if you want to move or copy a folder;
how can you make the same choice appear for moving / copying a file?

Repeat the instruction but for here
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*

But it's buggy (well it wasn't designed to be put here). Some files you won't be able to open in future. Use the 95 Powertoys.
