Everything except popup windows with the ! (exclamation point) display in
english. I think the language is in German. I've tried uninstalling almost
everything and no luck. I checked all my regional settings and language
stuff. Maybe a program I installed replaced a universal font or something.
Any info would be greatly appreciated. I've had this problem since august
and it's really getting anoying. Otherwise XP is working great.

Thanks

I had a similar problem, and found this solution somewhere on
Microsoft's support site:

The file MFC42LOC.DLL is a file that tells MFC42.DLL to show a dialog
box in a particular language. The MFC42LOC.DLL copy that
some program installed on my computer happened to be for German.

Therefore, some of my programs that used MFC42.DLL in displaying
certain dialog boxes were displaying certain dialog boxes in German,
even though everything else in those programs was in English.

The way to get rid of these German messages (instead of English)
was simply to delete or rename the MFC42LOC.DLL file. So, I rebooted
into DOS, and renamed mine MFC42LOC.BAD. That solved the problem.

NOTE: Do NOT delete or rename MFC42.DLL.
