I used File Settings and Transfer Wizard. Now on my new PC I see two
Quick Launch tool bars, one on the right side of the screen (which is
where I had it on my old PC) and the other on the task bar. If I
right-click on the task bar and close Quick Launch, the one on the task
bar closes but the one on the right remains. Quick Launch (QL) also
shows up in the Applications list of Windows Task Manager (WTM). I can
close the right side QL but it remains in WTM. If I try ending the QL
task in WTM, it closes and restart the entire Windows desktop and QL
still shows up in WTM.

How do I clean this mess up?

I tried Taskbar Repair Tool Plus! and it didn't make any difference. I have
closed quick launch on the task bar by right clicking on the task bar and
unchecking quick launch. I dragged the right side quick launch to the task
bar and then closed it by right clicking again. Quick launch still shows up
in Task Manager. It only appears in task manager on my account. If I log
onto another account it does not show up. If in task manager I right click
on quick launch on the Applications tab and select Go To Process, it goes to
explorer.exe. If I highlight Quick Launch and select End Task, it closes on
the Application tab at the same time that the entire desktop (explorer.exe)
closes and restarts. Once it restarts, Quick Launch reappears on the
Applications tab.

WHY!

Brian,

Can you send/post the screenshot of your screen. Also, what name is displayed in WTM?

This from a 98 thread in 2001. May throw some insight. I sent remesh the whole thread.
I can't see it being helpful, but?

Thanks for that mail David and you're the better person to answer this. Reading your mail now. Disabled Word wrap, aligned and word wrapped :-)

Brian,
Therefore, are there two instances of "explorer" in "Proceses" tab [with all the folder windows closed]? If possible, get Autoruns from www.sysinternals.com and save the startup log and post here.

I'm not sure exactly what happened, but ...

I left clicked on the task bar and the floating Quick Launch popped up
on my desktop. I click on the red X in the upper right of QL and it
closed. It also closed in Task Manager. All is well now.

Thanks all for the suggestions.
Brian
