Vista Parental Controls no longer blocking websites

whitelisted. This used to work fine. I was very surprised today to find my
daughter on the M&M's website which is not in the whitelist. I checked that
the parental controls are still enabled and still set to whitelist, and that
the site was not in the whitelist - all true. But she can access any site at
all right now (with both IE and Firefox). I'm concerned that Windows Update
may have broken the parental controls. Has anyone else seen this?

Since you suspect that windows update might have something to do with the
problem,We can "kill 2 birds in one stone" : --
1.) unplug your connection to internet. The reason is to narrow down which
update might be the culprit. By unplugging the connection, no more new
updates will get mixed up with the ones you want to single out.
2.) TEMPORARILY you want Vista to stop doing auto-updating until you know
for sure if the updates are ok. So, open Windows Update folder, click Change
Settings , "dot" the option that says "Check for updates but let me
choose ----", click OK.
3.) do a system restore choosing the day you KNOW parental control was
working as your restore point.
Now, check if it is back to normal. If yes, open the Windows Update folder
and find out if there are any updates waiting to be installed.( System
restore operation could kick out some updates that were installed After the
restore point date. Ex. restore point is May 22nd, any updates installed on
the 23rd, 24th and 25th would be kicked out.)
If there are updates kicked out, manually install them ONE at a time.After
each update re-installed, check the Parental Control . If ok, next update,
and so on. This way, you can prove or disprove your suspicion. It could be
something else, such as installing a new program, making settings changes
etc.
Remember, after all said and done, change Windows Update back to auto,
re-connect to internet.

What ever the forum is that you are posting from, it's leaching off the
Microsoft News server to make it look far busier than it really is.

The point is, this "forum" that the OP is using (and if you look at the NNTP
posting host, we get an awful lot of orphaned posts from the same host) is
leaching off the MS news server in order to make it look a lot busier than
it is. if we could find out what forum it is, I expect you would see loads
of posts from "Guest", which would be all those people who post on the MS
news server...

I feel the same way about all web-to-usenet gateways - they are
ruining the newsgroup experience. I only posted the archive from
Google in case you really wanted to help the poster with parental
