I have a 2003 SP1 machine. I have setup the machine to have two netbios
names using the registry key OtherNames

Problem is this machine can no longer connect to its own alias???? If I
uninstall SP1 everything is fine.

Any ideas?

Hi,

I've the same problem. I defined the key DisableStrictNameChecking like
written in KB281308, and without Windows 2003 SP1, all worked fine.
After installing SP1, I can connect to the alias share from all machines,
but not from the server itself.

any suggestions?

Yep found an answer.

1. Locate the following key in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa

2. Add Value
Value name: DisableLoopbackCheck
Data type: REG_DWORD
Radix: Decimal
Value: 1
